Origins

The majority of houses on West End date from the 17th and 18th centuries and are mostly constructed from coursed limestone rubble with roofs of Cotswold or artificial stone slate. Some frontages have been rendered and there is a mix of casement (timber or metal) and sash windows. A few houses have modern timber and uPVC windows (West End is a conservation area so these are inappropriate for the property and are extremely unlikely to be approved now).
